Job description

Position Summary
TGS Construction Services LLC is seeking a skilled and safety-oriented Heavy Equipment Operator to support our heavy civil construction, earthwork, site development, and infrastructure projects in the Shreveport, LA area. This role focuses on the safe and efficient operation of articulating dump trucks and rollers.
The ideal candidate brings 3-5+ years of proven experience operating articulating dump trucks in construction settings. Experience with additional heavy equipment is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and proficiently operate articulating dump trucks, rollers/compactors, and other assigned heavy equipment to move, load, level, and compact earth, rock, gravel, and materials.
  • Perform routine daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor servicing of assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, hours, fuel, and materials; promptly report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety plans while working in active construction environments.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams, supervisors, and other operators to meet project timelines and quality standards for grading, excavation support, and site preparation.
  • Assist with general site duties as needed, including basic labor or equipment support tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow all environmental and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating articulating dump trucks in construction, earthwork, or heavy civil projects. Experience operating other heavy equipment is beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of equipment operation, maintenance, safety procedures, and material handling. Ability to read grades, plans, and follow directions.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license required; Class A or B CDL preferred. Relevant heavy equipment certifications or training a plus.
  • Physical and Environmental Requirements:
    • Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
    • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind).
    • Exposure to loud noise, vibrations, moving equipment, and uneven terrain.
    • Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and early/late shifts as project needs dictate.
    • Must have physical stamina and dexterity for prolonged operation of heavy machinery.
  • Other: Reliable transportation, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
