Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle including concept generation, detail design, analysis, assembly, test, and implementation. They will work closely with the clients to identify project scope and manage project teams to ensure completion of project within budget and timeframe. The Senior Mechanical Engineer must have expertise in all areas of mechanical engineering and possess basic knowledge of other disciplines with the ability to clearly communicate with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical efforts on small-medium, complex engineering projects, including development or modification of systems and processes and overseeing work of the engineering team.
  • Manage projects and serve as the mechanical subject matter expert on assigned projects.
  • Prepare and manage multiple small-medium engineering projects including specification, design, cost estimates, equipment selection, acquisition, documentation, preparation, and completion.
  • Provide estimates for labor, material, and other costs for quotes and timeline development.
  • Perform detailed engineering studies covering complex topics and/or problems.
  • Represents the company at design and construction meetings
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior-level engineers.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to inspect and evaluate project deliverables,
  • Stay up to date on architectural, engineering, and design practices, codes, and environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 5+ years' experience in analyzing, designing, and planning mechanical engineering systems in commercial buildings.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) Required
  • Familiarity with and working knowledge of model codes and standards of care
  • Proficient in preparing technical documents utilizing discipline specific software (i.e., Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, ROHR2)
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and effectively work and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of design and construction specifications
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, with occasional overnight travel.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation to conduct client site visits.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical schematics and ability to troubleshoot failures.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills; able to analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion and independent judgment.

This position will be located in the Louisville, KY area.
