Job description

Department Summary
Housed under the newly developed University Consortium of Schools (previously PreK-12), the UCLA Lab School is an innovative school for children ages 4-12 and a laboratory for teachers and researchers in the School of Education and Information Studies (SE&IS) at UCLA.
Position Summary
School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of our school team that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed professionals to improve support strategies, work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. (Required)
  • Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. (Required)
  • Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. (Required)
  • Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. (Required)
