What will the work look like for me?
As a Business Trainee Student, you'll embark on a dynamic learning journey, gaining hands-on experience and valuable insights into various aspects of the business world. This role is designed for college students eager to launch their careers, offering exposure to multiple teams across Daktronics while fostering professional growth and development. Our goal is to prepare you for future full-time opportunities, and we proudly encourage you to apply for open positions upon graduation.
You'll be paired with a mentor who will encourage you to think critically, take initiative, and build a strong foundation in Daktronics' products, practices, and procedures. Rotation experiences vary for each student, offering exposure to different teams based on individual interests and business needs. The duration of each rotation may also differ, providing flexibility and a personalized learning experience.
Rotation experiences include the following areas:

  • Quote and Order Specialist
  • Project Coordination
  • Daktronics Sports Marketing
  • Trade Shows & Events

When will I work?
Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
Where is this opportunity located?
While all responsibilities can be performed remotely, preference is given to candidates residing near our corporate headquarters in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.
What are the pay and perks?
The typical hiring range for this position is $14.00 to $15.00 per hour based on the location of Brookings, SD. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.
Students with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed. Additional conditions may apply.

Qualifications
To be considered for the Business Trainee Student position, we require the following:
Academic Requirements:
  • The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Business, Consumer Behavior, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, or a closely related field.
  • The preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.

Other Requirements:
  • Work Availability:
    • Approximately 15 hours per week during the academic year (maximum of 20 hours).
    • Up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
    • Reliable and capable of working independently while maintaining productivity in a remote environment.
    • Eager to learn and contribute to new projects, including the use of unfamiliar software and tools.
    • Adaptable to shifting priorities and evolving responsibilities.
    • Proficient in general computer use, including accurate keyboarding skills.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Eligibility:
    • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
