More about our team

Our Infection Prevention & Employee Health team plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and high‑quality care environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This department partners closely with nursing leadership, clinical teams, environmental services, laboratory, and hospital administration to ensure best practices in infection prevention, surveillance, regulatory compliance, and employee health management. This role reports directly to the Director of Quality and serves as a key resource for hospital leadership, department managers, and medical staff.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Coordinates and evaluates the hospital's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and programs.
  • Conducts surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of healthcare‑associated infection data.
  • Oversees cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and aseptic technique practices across the facility.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
  • Performs new‑hire health screenings and manages employee exposure follow‑up.
  • Provides education and serves as a resource to staff, leadership, and medical providers.
  • Supports development of employee health and infection prevention initiatives and annual program evaluations.

What we're looking for

A detail‑oriented nurse with strong critical‑thinking skills, decisive judgment, and a deep understanding of infection prevention principles, regulatory compliance, and data‑driven quality improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required (degree in progress considered).
  • Four years of acute care hospital experience or equivalent required.
  • Previous infection prevention experience preferred.
  • Current RN license to practice in North Carolina.
  • Professional Infection Control Certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
