Job description

Patient Safety Specialist     
Job Code: 28292    

 


Position Summary
Reporting to the Patient Safety Risk Manager, supports the daily operations of patient safety and clinical risk management including coordination of incident report event identification, classification, tracking trends, investigations, and development of action plans for improvement. 

 

Responsibilities
•    Ensures timely screening and monitoring of all safety reported events, escalating concerns, trends, high harm, or serious near miss events to leadership in a timely manner
•    Assists in response to requests for interrogatories related to claims and litigation
•    Assists with employee and provider risk management education and orientation
•    Supports development and maintenance of patient safety education programs
•    Conducts risk assessments and assists with corrective action plans related to patient safety concerns
•    Participates in Root Cause Analysis processes as assigned and follows up on action plans
•    Coordinates product recall processes
•    Coordinates provider peer review
•    A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected as well as strong clinical skills
•    Performs other related duties as assigned
•    Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
•    Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
•    Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

 

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
•    BSN required 
•    Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program 
•    State of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho 
•    3 years’ healthcare experience required
•    Patient safety or risk management certification preferred
