Drives quality across complex, multi-stack environments using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Angular, REST/SOAP Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and advanced test automation frameworks (Cucumber, Selenium, JUnit). Leverages Agile principles, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure quality throughout the development process. Implements Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud deployments, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and integration of automated tests into Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins and Bitbucket. Designs and implements scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and microservices testing with a focus on performance and reliability. Defines test strategies, supports quality initiatives, and drives adoption of emerging technologies to enhance testing efficiency. Ensures end-to-end quality delivery for major initiatives, including compliance and process improvement. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Cloud applications in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Cloud applications in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing enterprise APIs to optimize account performance and product inquiries by applying authorization rules (OAuth framework) in support of investment strategies, using Spring Boot frameworks and Java; and performing automation for AWS lambda services and Spring Boot APIs, using Serenity Cucumber framework in Java.

  • DE applying DevOps principles throughout the SDLC to provide financial services continuity on Web applications by performing Continuous Integration (CI) and deployments (using Jenkins) and code scanning (using Sonar); and testing and improving application performance (for compliance score) and identifying performance bottlenecks.

  • DE assisting consumers with investment strategies by writing SQL stored procedures and complex queries (that interact with Postgres databases) and validating product strategies and account data.

  • DE building enterprise financial services and performing Service Management Automation (SMA) account management to maintain and update account data in a financial service environment, using AWS Lambda and Python; and creating solutions and strategies for business use cases in an SMA domain, using Spring Boot and AWS.
