Job description

Regions Hospital is seeking a dynamic RN for a busy L/D and Antepartum unit. This role will orient to circulator and scrub RN roles for the OB OR and care for newborns needing routine care. In addition, this position will orient and work on postpartum unit as needed.

Our nursing staff are key to the exceptional care we provide each patient. Our Professional Nursing Practice Model offers patient and family-centered care that maintains an unwavering focus on what matters most: caring and healing at the patient's bedside. As a nursing professional you will be empowered to manage your clinical practice and working environment through our Shared Governance Model, which focuses on evidence-based nursing practice. Regions Hospital supports nurses with an individualized orientation including Transition to Regions Hospital Practice program which is a nurse residency structured program to support learning, role transition, and retention of nurses. All new hire registered nurses at Regions Hospital will be automatically enrolled. Our award-winning programs give our patients and their families a place of comfort and healing. We are proud of the care we give each and every patient.

Our state-of-the-art Birth Center was built in 2020.  Featuring 160,000 square feet - 13 Labor and Delivery rooms, 2 operating rooms, 24 Postpartum rooms, and 7 NICU rooms.  Our Level 2 NICU features 7 private rooms including 1 twin room for a total of 8beds, each with an adjoining family space and bathroom to keep families connected. Regions Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the country to feature the Enhanced Couplet Care model.  5 of our Postpartum rooms are outfitted with a full NICU headwall, allowing a subset of our NICU babies to stay in the Postpartum room with their families and avoid separation.  This evidence-based model of care provides many benefits including improved weight gain, more effective feedings, and fewer hospital readmissions.

The Birth Center at Regions has approximately 2800 births annually with 15-20% of babies requiring some amount of NICU-level care.  We are dedicated to diversity and inclusion, with 60% of our patient population being people of color, and 25% requiring interpreters for their care.
Our unit provides care to low risk & high risk culturally diverse obstetrical patients. We have received the highest ranking from the Institute for HealthCare Improvement (IHI) for patient safety. We are proud to support the largest midwife practice in the Twin Cities and note that over half of our deliveries are done by midwives. We work as an interdisciplinary team with physicians, midwives, residents, and students. Services we provide include water births for low-risk patients, and we strive to accommodate individual patient birth plans. Our unit provides care to high-risk obstetrical patients and we have a full service medical team in house 24 hours per day to support any emergent situation. L&D nurses provide primary care to patients in antepartum, in active labor and in the maternal outpatient assessment area.
