Job Title: Patient Service Tech II (Phlebotomist)

Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 7:00a - 3:30p or 5:00a - 3:30p, weekend rotation required

SUMMARY

The primary role of a Patient Services Technician II is using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to enter patient demographics (including confirming identity of patients), billing information, client information, orders for tests and appropriate comments essential to ensure complete procurement, processing, testing, reporting of results, compliance and billing, execute venipuncture procedures, including heel stick and finger stick techniques for the procurement of blood specimens, and perform essential functions necessary to maintain the integrity of the specimens for testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to enter patient demographics (including confirming identity of patients), billing information, client information, orders for tests and appropriate comments essential to ensure complete procurement, processing, testing, reporting of results, compliance and billing.
• Manually confirm the identity of patients and documenting essential information to complete procurement, processing, and testing of specimens.
• Executing venipuncture procedure including heel stick and finger stick techniques for the procurement of blood specimens.
• Performing the essential functions necessary to maintain the integrity of the specimens for testing.
• Greeting and assisting customers to provide general information.
• Collaborating with the Client Service Representative on orders and STATs.
• Communication with clients for information exchange to ensure accuracy, when necessary.
• Maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and discarding of all expired materials.
• Training new employees or staff on phlebotomy procedures; assessing and reporting trainee progress to supervisor.
• Registering nursing home or outpatients in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and processing these specimens quickly prior to testing.
• Assisting supervisors and managers with special assignments and projects.
• Performing duties in compliance with company policies and procedures to meet corporate, state, federal, OSHA and customer specifications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required
• Basic keyboard/data entry skills required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certificate in Phlebotomy preferred
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$20.15 - $21.25Rochester14626

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
