Job description

Shift: Multiple Shifts Available

        Day (with possible call and weekend rotation)

        Evening (with possible call and weekend rotation)

        Night (with possible call and weekend rotation)

Work Arrangement: On-Site
Department: Adult and Pediatric Sleep Lab
Compensation:

        Base Pay Range: $19.15 - $30.23 per hour, based on experience

        Shift Differentials:

o   Additional $2.00 per hour for evening shift

o   Additional $4.00 per hour for night shift

o   Additional $3.00 per hour for weekend shift

ABOUT THE JOB

MU Health Care is looking for a Neurodiagnostic Trainee to play a pivotal role in our Sleep Lab. In this position, you will learn fundamental neurodiagnostic technology skills and assist with various studies. The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented and dedicated to providing exceptional patient experiences. You'll work closely under the supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and have ample opportunities for career advancement. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

        Explain test procedures to patients prior to the studies and provide for psychological needs while in the laboratory to obtain quality test results. Differentiate quality of procedure and patient cooperation for interpretive analysis. 

        Perform scoring and long-term monitoring review, as requested. 

        Communicate the patient's psychological status and environmental conditions during the procedure to the physician for consideration in interpreting test results. 

        Adapt test methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal patient results. 

        Clean, calibrate, and process neurophysiology equipment. Report equipment and supply needs to leadership. 

        Recognize medically emergent situations and take appropriate actions. 

        Complete necessary documentation and billing. 

        Perform limited office, secretarial, and patient transport duties. 

        Meet all Patient Family Centered Care standards and patient experience goals. 

        May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

        High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

        Six (6) months experience in a hospital setting.

        Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

        Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
