Database Migration Engineer

Our client is executing a structured, risk-stratified migration of a portfolio of self-managed databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL managed services, aiming to eliminate operational overhead, meet defined RTO/RPO targets, and establish multi-AZ automated failover across all production workloads. They are looking to hire a Database Migration Engineer. Key highlights of the role are:

  • Migrate self-managed databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL (AWS managed services)
  • Multi-phase approach: PostgreSQL → large-scale → MySQL → PostgreSQL conversions
  • Focus: RTO/RPO targets, multi-AZ failover, operational efficiency
  • Includes Terraform IaC, CDC replication (AWS DMS), runbooks, and weekend cutovers
  • Goal: fully managed Aurora environment with operational handoff
MUST HAVE Skills
  • PostgreSQL (cloud-managed): config, backup/restore, failover, connection mgmt
  • Heterogeneous migrations: MySQL → PostgreSQL, schema conversion, DDL remediation
  • CDC replication: full load → CDC, lag monitoring, replication health
