The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Role Purpose:
  • As an Application Database Developer you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining database objects that directly support application functionality. This role acts as a link between application development and database administration, ensuring that data intensive components are performant, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.You will partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The primary focus will be on develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, etc.
  • Work closely with application developers, DBAs, and business stakeholders.
  • Deliver high-quality database solutions that enhance application performance, enable efficient data access and support enterprise-wide reliability.
  • Provide off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.
  • Perform Database objects performance review as per customer needs.
  • Use database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options
  • Analyze slow-running queries and identify bottleneck using execution plans.
  • Recommend and implement indexing strategies; perform root cause analysis on data-related performance issues.
  • Promote SQL development standards and enforce secure coding practices; maintain documentation for database schemas, business logic, and workflows; participate in code reviews and mentor of others application developers as needed.
  • Maintain technical knowledge on current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, assesses the opportunity, and collaborates with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Work with the third-party support team (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams to educate and guide them for steady-state supporting database development related technologies.
  • Promote and self-demonstrates Corning's principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity.

Experiences/Education - Required
  • BS degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
  • 7+ years working in IT as Application Database Developer
  • Played pivotal roles as Application Database Developer and support staff across various database technologies
  • Knowledgeable in database technologies - Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS.
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools.
  • Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures.

Experiences/Education - Desired
  • Should have experience of working in Manufacturing Industry (or similar) to understand the data security requirements like ITAR/PCI/PHI/HIPPA/NIST/SOX etc.
  • Achievement orientation, creative thinking, and enthusiasm.

The range for this position is $96,378.00 - $132,520.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
