Job Title: Medical Student Trainee & Future Commissioned Physician (HPSP Fellow)

Are you preparing to enter or currently enrolled in medical school (MD or DO)?

The U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers aspiring physicians a 100% debt-free path to medical school, combined with premier clinical training, mentorship, and immediate placement into world-class residency programs upon graduation 


As an HPSP recipient, your primary focus is simple: excel in your medical studies. The Army covers your entire educational bill and provides living allowances while you complete your medical degree at any accredited institution in the United States.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Complete your standard 4-year curriculum at your chosen accredited medical school (MD or DO) 
  • Participate in 45 days of Active Duty Training (ADT) annually, conducting clinical rotations at major military medical centers (e.g., Walter Reed, Brooke Army Medical Center) 
  • Match into premier military or integrated civilian residency programs upon graduation.
  • Fulfill a 1-for-1 active duty service commitment (typically 4 years) as a practicing, licensed Army Physician post-residency


📋 Eligibility Requirements


To qualify for the Army HPSP, applicants must meet the following baseline criteria:


  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen (dual citizenship must be renounced or resolved per DoD policy) 
  • Academics:
  • Bachelor’s degree completed prior to matriculation.
  • Competitive MCAT score (minimum 500 recommended; competitive scores prioritize selection) 
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher 
  • Enrollment: Letter of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited U.S. medical school (MD or DO).
  • Military Qualifications: Must pass a standard military commissioning medical physical (DoDMERB / MEPS) and security background check
