Job description

QA Lab Technician
A-Crew: Days 7am- 7pm Sun, Mon, Tues, and every other Wed.
Summary
Conduct all products testing of assigned attributes as presently setup by the product specifications and testing frequency schedules. Enter all lab analysis of data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform all work functions in a safe manner as defined in the lab safety manual and in safety meetings.
  2. Provide accurate, reproducible and timely data on test results and data entry.
  3. Notify the Technical Services Manager and/or Lab Team Leader of reoccurring or serious out of specification conditions.
  4. Support the Quality Improvement Process through active participation. Support the 5S process through active participation.
  5. Assist and promote a positive work atmosphere among coworkers.
  6. Adhere and comply with all company standards and policies.
  7. Maintain the work area neat and orderly.
  8. Perform 2 Safe surveys per month.
  9. Assist in the training of new lab personnel.
  10. Provide 1st aid treatment.
  11. Assist lab Team Leader in helping new trainees in acquiring a testing lab routine, be able to do multitasking and other training as needed.

All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.
A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences and vacancies.
Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of "What We Stand For" and "The Basic Principles."
Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet the following qualifications.
Education and/or Experience
Possess good math skills, i.e., add, subtract, multiply, divide, average, compute ranges, and determine high and low answers. Understand basic skills and ability to use a computer. Become a "Certified Laboratory Technician". Have first aid skills as provided by the company. Be able to work and handle chemicals with an awareness of safety. Be able to read and manipulate basic laboratory equipment.
Language Skills
Be able to effectively read, write and speak English. Be able to speak clearly on the telephone including handling emergencies and crisis calls. Be able to give meaningful oral instruction and/or discussion in a group situation. Be able to give meaningful and legible written instruction. Be able to lead, direct, and instruct groups in various types of training. Be able to express ones self while under pressure.
Reasoning Ability
Be able to reason a situation and make sound decisions. Be able to make decision based on facts rather than emotions. Be able to analyze a situation and react accordingly. Be able to recognize out of specification conditions. Be able to recognize deficiencies during inspections. Be able to deal with problem solving situations involving several variables.
Physical Demands
Be able to work under stress. Be able to do plant testing, which require going up and down stairs, platforms, and various types of equipment. Wear protective equipment as needed. Come to work clean and dressed in appropriate work clothes. Be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Average physical abilities in eyesight, taste, and smell.
Work Environment
While performing the necessary job duties listed above the following conditions constitute the work environment.
Be able to safely work around hazardous chemicals such as acids, bases, and flammables. Be able to work around moving equipment, loud noises, etc. without adverse effects. Be able to work around and understand Technical Equipment.
