JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for areas of specialty that include: Low, Medium and High Risk CSP, Oncology Products, Technician Training, IV Order Entry, Supply Room Maintenance, Outpatient Study, Controlled Substance and Infusion Pump Tracking and Specialty Pharmacy areas. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Specialist, in conjunction with the, Outpatient Pharmacy Manager, Infusion Supervisor and Clinical Specialty Pharmacist is responsible for their area of specialty which includes training, program development, writing procedures, and continual analysis of current processes. These areas are all critical result areas that frequently involve very expensive items, automated technology and rigid quality control. Interpretation and problem solving skills are frequently used as well as precise manufacturing skills. Accurate record keeping and communication skills are essential
EDUCATION:
High School / GED plus one year of post high school education or related work experience. Self study or formal Technician Training to become Nationally Certified. Technicians will maintain their Pharmacy Technician Registration/License with the State of Vermont Board of Pharmacy as well as their National Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years experience as a Senior Pharmacy Technician preferred. Demonstrated competence in all areas of Pharmacy Technician Trainee, Pharmacy Technician Certified and Senior Pharmacy Technician.
