Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking a talented C++ Software Engineer with experience using C++ to refactor large existing code base to be platform independent, well tested, and fully functional within a virtual container like Docker. Expertise in programming, architectures, and frameworks for C++20 is required. Torch is seeking candidates with these qualities and experience that work well with a multidiscipline team. Candidate will work directly with customers supporting the Technology Development Directorate. Candidate must be able to work in person daily at the Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville Alabama. Candidate should be trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated, eager to overcome challenges and solve problems. Previous experience working within a DoW environment is a plus, but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops and analyzes complicated and difficult software programs for computer based systems.
  • Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis.
  • Collaborates with hardware design engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and works with them to resolve incompatibilities.
  • As required, provides inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.
  • May provide work leadership for lower level employees.

Job Requirements:
  • US Citizenship.
  • B.S or greater in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or technical discipline is required. Relevant graduate degrees will be given preference.
  • 5 years applicable software design engineering experience.
  • Qualified candidates will have direct experience with the following:
  • Proficient in C++20 software development.
  • Proficient in navigating and understanding large existing code bases.
  • Experience in Containerization including Docker.
  • Experience in network implementations using Boost ASIO.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Working in high-performing/mission-oriented organizations reliant upon the implementation of modeling and simulation.
  • Experience in working with C++ libraries including Boost and Eigen.
  • Experience in working with TOML and associated C++ libraries.
  • Software development, architecture, frameworks, prototyping and design.
  • Scripting languages like Python for searching datasets.
  • Source control repositories such as Git and Gitlab.
  • C++ build systems including CMake.
  • Linux and Windows development.
  • Experience with Agile development processes.
