This role will be highly focused on leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to build scalable, resilient, and automated environments, ensuring that cloud infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices.
This is an on-site position located in Springfield, MO. Remote work is not an option for this position.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Cloud Architecture & Design: Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments, specifically focusing on GCP services, to design solutions in line with industry best practice and provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate global infrastructure solutions.
  • Infrastructure Evolution: Drive advances in technologies and architectures, particularly cloud-native services, to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities. Recommend and participate in activities related to the design, development, and maintenance of the IT capabilities within the enterprise architecture.
  • Strategic Partnership: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts, ensuring seamless integration between legacy systems and GCP cloud environments.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collect business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
  • Lifecycle Migration: Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability (e.g., on-prem to GCP migrations) to record accurately the change required.
  • Emerging Tech Evaluation: Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues, such as new GCP features or cloud security trends, and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on the organization.
  • Feasibility & ROI: Conduct feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
  • Cloud Security & Compliance: Implement required security measures, such as GCP Cloud Armor, IAM policies, firewalls, message encryption, system hardening, or vulnerability remediation, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.
  • Governance: Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes, ensuring all cloud deployments adhere to required standards.
  • Platform Leadership: Lead technical developments to improve the quality of the infrastructure platform to better meet users' needs.
  • Professional Development: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning; gain or maintain professional cloud certifications (e.g., GCP Professional Cloud Architect) to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Financial Accountability: Contribute to developing business cases to quantify current costs, justify project investment, and identify the return on investment for cloud-based initiatives.
  • Fault Isolation: Develop and implement designs providing fault isolation and resolution for complex challenges to limit and address issues promptly.
  • System Testing: Design and perform system and component tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues as relates to the infrastructure platform.
  • Mentorship & Coaching: Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions to build their capabilities through training or coaching in cloud-native technologies.
  • Automation Focus: Contribute to the continued improvement of our Infrastructure Automation (IaC) tooling and processes.
  • Operational Excellence: Participate in after-hours support (on-call) and contribute to Knowledge Base articles and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure routine cloud tasks are well documented.
  • Onboarding: Participate in the onboarding and training of new team members.
Skills
Required:
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Determine and analyze trends from data that is collected to assist in compiling reports that will help in decision-making.
  • Business Contextualization: Understand business context, needs, and architecture to document the current state of processes and the business.
  • Requirement Translation: Express user needs in terms of business requirements and conduct build-vs-buy analyses for cloud services.
  • Change Strategy: Develop an effective change strategy based on gap analyses and enterprise readiness assessment results.
  • Systems Testing: Design, execute, and report on systems/service tests to ensure applications function as specified.
  • Business Case Creation: Interpret or lead business case creation to quantify costs and justify project investment.
