Job description

Job Title:                    Electrical Design Engineer
Reporting To:            Controls Manager
Location:                    Loveland, CO 80538
Terms:                        Permanent Full Time
Salary:                        $80,000 – $100,000 Annually
About Us:
Swiss-based Muller Technology is a global leader in injection mold making, robotics, and automation technology to produce thin-wall plastic packaging used in the food, medical, and other industries.
About the Role:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the electrical design of Muller Technology robot and automation systems — including control panel design, schematics, and bills of materials — with supporting involvement in controls programming and system testing. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in electrical design for industrial automation or machinery. A technical degree is preferred, ideally in electrical engineering or a similar discipline. A highly supportive work environment and hands-on training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
  • Electrical design of robotic and automated systems using EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical, including control panel design, schematics, and creation of bills of materials.
  • Component selection and specification (drives, safety devices, sensors, and industrial communication networks) in line with UL 508A and applicable standards.
  • Review and release of electrical designs and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support automation PLC programming using OMRON Sysmac Studio software and assist with system commissioning.
  • Provide system support to the Final Test department.
  • Provide remote support to Field Service Technicians and customers.
  • Collaborate and exchange best practices with the controls team in Switzerland.
Requirements:
  • Experience creating and reviewing electrical designs, schematics, and panel layouts for industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN strongly preferred; AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, industrial communication networks, and control system fundamentals (sensing, machine intelligence, and actuation).
  • Familiarity with UL 508A, NFPA 79, and/or IEC electrical standards preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and savvy both electrically and mechanically.
  • Technical degree is preferred, ideally in electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Exposure to robot systems (Stäubli, OMRON, ABB) a plus — hands-on training provided.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates within commuting distance of Loveland, Colorado.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and control faults on automated equipment, and to support the commissioning and final testing of new units prior to shipment.
