Outside Sales Trainee (Sales Associate)

The Sales Associate is an entry-level sales position designed to build foundational selling skills while growing existing accounts and developing new customer opportunities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Sales Associate generates new leads and supports account growth within an assigned territory. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Manager, this role participates in a comprehensive 12--18-month training program working closely with senior sales professionals and operations leaders. The person filling this position must be adaptable to an ever-changing business environment and must demonstrate general business knowledge, an ability to develop customer relationships, and a high level of confidentiality.

  • Generate new leads and support account growth within an assigned territory through proactive outreach and relationship management.
  • Learn and develop a deep understanding of the fabrication process, including key operational workflows and product specifications.
  • Build comprehensive industry knowledge, including product applications, glazing/estimating fundamentals, and project take-offs.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the financial drivers of the Trulite business, including pricing strategies, cost structures, profit margins, and market dynamics.
  • Initiate appropriate actions in response to customer service requests, including processing order changes and maintaining accurate customer/order files.
  • Assist in validating entered orders, ensuring correct coding and accuracy prior to final confirmation.
  • Collaborate with the scheduling and production teams to ensure orders meet customer expectations and delivery timelines.
  • Handle or escalate product or service complaints to the appropriate department for resolution and follow-up.
  • Prepare custom price quotations for non-standard items and document all quotations accurately.
  • Coordinate with other branch and regional locations to resolve customer issues, ensure consistency, and enhance service delivery.
  • Update quote status upon order placement to ensure visibility and alignment across the sales team.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing product training to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Perform ride alongs and customer visits as applicable.
  • Conduct introductory sales calls, presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Partner with Sales Managers and Operations Leaders to support negotiations and deal closures.
  • Provide timely market feedback regarding pricing, competition, and customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, reporting, and customer call documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties and provide back-up support to other group members as assigned by management.

SKILLS YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1--2 years of outside sales, estimating, or customer-facing experience -- unless you just graduated college and are looking to start your career in outside sales.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be organized, efficient, and accurate.
  • Must have excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, conflict management, and time management skills.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Listening skills and data collection with attention to detail are essential.
  • Understands basic pricing, margins, and quote-to-order processes.
  • Uses CRM tools to track activities and simple forecasts.
  • Ability to travel overnight within assigned territory as needed.
