Job Type: Contract (6-month, with potential for extension)
Location: Greenwood Village, CO
Work Setting: On-site (5 days/week)
Position Summary
Unison Systems is looking for a skilled Sr. Data Scientist for our client located in Greenwood Village, CO. In this role, you will lead an exciting AI initiative centered on advanced AI and NLP solutions, leveraging cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve complex business challenges and optimize decision-making across global markets. The ideal candidate is a "T-Shaped" data professional who pairs elite business communication with hands-on technical execution, owning end-to-end delivery from interpreting ambiguous executive requests to automating the final data platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven automation into business intelligence workflows while mentoring junior data scientists.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead the end-to-end analytics life cycle, including requirements gathering, problem formulation, data grooming and exploration, model prototyping, validation, and production deployment.
  • Develop and fine-tune LLM-based AI solutions, optimizing multilingual applications.
  • Apply prompt engineering techniques to refine AI interactions and improve model efficiency.
  • Lead exploratory analyses to establish links across datasets and uncover valuable data correlations.
  • Apply NLP modeling techniques such as entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and text generation.
  • Guide and mentor junior data scientists, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Present findings, suggested actions, and strategic recommendations to executives and stakeholders.
  • Ensure model scalability, adaptability, and modular architecture across AI projects.
  • Support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with data manipulation and statistical modeling as a Scientist, Consultant, Architect, DBA, or Engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL/R/Python/SAS programming.
  • Strong experience with SQL, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Extensive expertise in LLMs (GPT, BERT, LLaMA) and prompt engineering, including the ability to articulate risks and limitations while building creative solutions beyond the traditional scope of the technologies.
  • Ability to fine-tune and optimize AI models for specialized applications.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, machine learning algorithms, and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark) and ETL processes, plus a solid understanding of data architecture, data warehouses, and streaming services.
  • Proven track record of leading AI-driven automation and NLP research projects, with strong analytical skills and command of advanced mathematical concepts (probability, statistics, PDEs, calculus).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or competitive intelligence analytics.
  • Background in the telecommunications industry or other consumer-based sectors.
  • Experience with Teradata (SQL, UDFs, explain plans, performance tuning).
  • Operations-research experience focused on large labor operations (field ops, technical support, and sales).
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, HIVE, SAS, SPSS, Alteryx, and Linux; familiarity with text analysis, text mining, and AI-driven automation tools; and publications or research contributions in LLM and NLP applications.
