Job description

Polar Field Services (PFS) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support scientific research operations in some of the world's most remote locations. This position rotates between Toolik Field Station in Alaska, Fairbanks operations, and Summit Station in Greenland, maintaining vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, and station facilities that keep Arctic research moving.What You'll DoDiagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, snowmobiles, tracked vehicles, and generatorsPerform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on diesel and gasoline-powered equipmentSupport station power generation and fuel operationsMaintain facility systems, including plumbing, heating, structural, and minor electrical componentsTrack maintenance activities, inventory, and repair recordsAssist with station operations and emergency response activities as neededWhat We're Looking ForRequired:High school diploma or equivalent5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, diesel equipment, or industrial machineryExperience with power generation systemsProficiency using diagnostic tools and softwareValid driver's license and U.S. passportAbility to work safely in remote locations and extreme weather conditionsPreferred:Welding and fabrication experienceFacility maintenance experienceRemote field, mining, oilfield, military, Arctic, or Antarctic experienceExperience with fuel, water, or utility systemsCompensation & Benefits$38.33 - $40.00 per hourOvertime eligibleFull PFS benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability insurance, paid sick leave, and EAPTravel, lodging, and meals provided while deployedWork Environment & ScheduleThis is a seasonal position supporting operations in remote Arctic locations.
