Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology information

What is a Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology professional?

A Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology professional is an entry-level specialist learning to process, reconstruct, and analyze medical imaging data, such as CT or MRI scans, into detailed 3D images. These 3D reconstructions assist radiologists and physicians in diagnosing conditions and planning treatments. As a trainee, the individual works under supervision to develop proficiency in specialized software and understand clinical requirements. This position is crucial for supporting accurate and efficient patient care in modern radiology departments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology, and why are they important?

Success as a Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology requires a solid educational background in radiologic technology or medical imaging, along with foundational knowledge of human anatomy and imaging protocols. Familiarity with advanced imaging software (such as 3D reconstruction tools), PACS systems, and certifications in radiologic technology are typically expected. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare team members. These competencies are vital for producing accurate diagnostic images, supporting clinical decisions, and ensuring patient safety in a technology-driven healthcare environment.

What is the difference between Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology vs Trainee Radiologic Technologist?

AspectTrainee 3D Post Processing RadiologyTrainee Radiologic Technologist
Required CredentialsBasic certification or training in 3D imaging softwareCertification or associate degree in radiologic technology
Work EnvironmentImaging labs, hospitals, specialized radiology centersHospitals, clinics, diagnostic imaging centers
Industry UsageFocus on post-processing and 3D visualization of imaging dataPerforming imaging procedures and patient positioning

While both roles involve radiology, Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology specializes in processing and visualizing imaging data, whereas Trainee Radiologic Technologist focuses on capturing images through procedures. The former emphasizes software skills, and the latter emphasizes patient care and imaging techniques.

What are some common challenges faced by Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology professionals, and how can they overcome them?

Trainee 3D Post Processing Radiology professionals often encounter challenges such as mastering complex imaging software, accurately interpreting imaging data, and managing large volumes of cases efficiently. To overcome these challenges, it is beneficial to actively seek mentorship from experienced radiologists, participate in hands-on training sessions, and regularly review case studies to improve interpretation skills. Collaborating closely with radiologists and technologists also helps in understanding clinical requirements and enhancing workflow efficiency, ensuring high-quality results and professional growth.

Job description

Job Opportunity: Additive Manufacturing Engineering Manager with Formative 3D in Falls Church, VAAre you a hands‑on leader with deep expertise in large‑format additive manufacturing and extrusion‑based processes? Do you enjoy building teams, optimizing production systems, and solving complex print challenges in real time? Are you excited to help scale a cutting‑edge 3D printing operation and shape the future of manufacturing? If you answered yes, we want to speak with you!

As the Additive Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead both the strategic direction and day‑to‑day execution of our additive manufacturing operations. This role blends leadership, technical expertise, and operational ownership—guiding production while advancing the next generation of processes, systems, and capabilities. You'll work closely across engineering, production, and leadership teams to ensure efficient, scalable manufacturing while driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of LFAM/FDM technicians, promoting safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own print processes and optimization, including parameters, material flow, toolpaths, and part quality.
  • Troubleshoot production issues (e.g., delamination, warping, equipment faults) and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • Partner with Production to streamline post-processing and assembly workflows.
  • Manage capacity planning, scheduling, and staffing in coordination with HR.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on new materials, processes, and finishing methods.
  • Drive automation and smart factory initiatives across the facility.
  • Report to leadership on KPIs, timelines, resource use, and risks.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs, ensuring quality, safety, and accurate documentation.
  • Coach and develop team members through performance management and career growth planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 7-10+ years of manufacturing experience, including hands-on additive manufacturing (LFAM and/or FDM).
  • Expertise in extrusion-based printing, including toolpaths, parameter optimization, and pellet/filament material handling.
  • Experience with large-format additive systems (e.g., CEAD, Caracol, Thermwood) preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, and smart factory systems (MES, ERP, IoT).
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or similar experience driving yield improvement, scrap reduction, and cycle time efficiency.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams in fast-paced or startup environments.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment and use PPE as required.
