Job description

Maintain the safety and security of employees, clients, visitors, and property. Inspect grounds and premises according to established schedules personally and/or with electronic surveillance equipment; report intruders or incidents to central security control or to external security or police agencies. Greet visitors; establish their reasons for being on the organization's premises, and issue visitor passes to ensure that access to all buildings and premises is controlled. Respond promptly to requests for assistance from employees to ensure their safety and security.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Control access to site by ensuring proper identification of employees or visitors and prepare security logs

Assist visitors with legitimate need to gain entry to facility

Monitor alarms, entrances, and exits to facility (guard station, video-surveillance systems) and act to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry

Make periodic walking tours of buildings and grounds to check doors, windows, and other entries to ensure they are properly secured

Report any observed irregularities, such as presence of unauthorized people, fire hazards, leaking pipes, unsecured entries, and faulty equipment

Respond to emergencies

Write reports on what they observed while on duty

Enforce rules and regulations of the location or property

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent

Security guard or security related training preferred

0 to 2 years of security guard or related work experience

Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment

Able to respond courteously and efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and requests

Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism

Able to handle and deescalate confrontational situations

Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
