The Dix Park Weekend Operations Analyst leads and coordinates weekend park maintenance operations across multiple park locations. This position oversees a Weekend Support Team, a Park Maintenance Crew, and is responsible for small-scale park improvement projects, daily operational needs, and upholding park cleanliness standards. Weekend operations span parks of all sizes and types across Raleigh, including high-traffic destination parks, community parks, neighborhood facilities, natural areas, trail corridors, greenway trailheads, and special use sites, with responsibilities ranging from routine maintenance and cleanliness to urgent weekend responses for service issues, event support, and safety hazards.

This position may be expected to safely operate City trucks, PUV's, grounds and landscape equipment and heavy machinery on occasion. About You: The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. This role is essential in ensuring Raleigh parks remain welcoming, safe, clean, and well cared for during peak weekend visitation.

Work Hours: The schedule for this position is typically Monday - Friday with working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Two weekends a month you will be expected to flex your schedule to conduct park inspections, provide staff oversite, training, follow up, and feedback to ensure the team is meeting park expectations and requests

Weekend work may include holiday coverage, special event support, and extended shifts when park activity and maintenance demands are high. This position serves and designates the primary weekend point-of-contact for park maintenance concerns, staff coordination, and service requests. The Dix Park Weekend Operations Analyst supports PRCR's efforts to maintain vibrant public spaces and provide exceptional experiences for all park users.

The role includes ongoing coordination with Park Managers, Facility Supervisors, Horticulture, Natural Resources, and Community and Art Centers. Oversee the weekend operations of our sites and ensure that our high standards for quality and efficiency are met through routine inspections, documenting issues and coordinating follow-up work during the week as needed. Direct a weekend team responsible for litter removal, trash collection, restroom cleaning, trail inspections, and upkeep of high use public spaces. Plan and execute small-scale park improvement projects such as grounds related enhancements, minor repairs, sign installations, amenity restoration, and site beautification.

Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, contractors, and other City personnel; provide guidance and clear expectations for work tasks and safety practices. Serve as weekend point-of-contact for park maintenance needs, responding to customer concerns, addressing service requests, and escalating issues appropriately. Work a rotating weekend schedule to support staff who work during this shift and to provide leadership, and team feedback based on job related performance.

The position will be responsible for ensuring the staffing levels are covered during staff absence and turnover. Assign and monitor work, ensuring completion, quality, and adherence to departmental standards. Maintain logs, documentation, and reports related to maintenance activities, project progress, inventory use, and equipment condition.

Monitor supplies and request replenishment to support operational readiness. Inspect equipment and tools; ensure safe operating conditions; initiate maintenance or repairs when necessary. Support special events through logistics coordination, set-up assistance, and park readiness tasks when weekend activities occur.

Perform traditional grounds maintenance tasks including blowing, litter pickup, trail clearing, trash can service and maintenance, and minor landscape care. Supervisory Responsibilities: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate weekend frontline seasonal, and part-time maintenance staff. Coordinates volunteer groups when weekend cleanups and improvement projects are scheduled.

Supports training, performance feedback, and onboarding of maintenance staff. Manage staff schedules and approve timesheets, perform Cityworks work order data and service requests, and develop reports for feedback to support administrative tasks. Keep and update a budget tracker for all budgetary items and materials.

Typical Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Education, Natural Resource Management, or related field; 1 to 3 years' experience in natural resource management, park operations or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Additional Information Knowledge Of: Park and grounds maintenance practices including grounds maintenance, facility cleanliness and minor repairs Safe operation of grounds maintenance equipment and small construction tools Supervisory principles and leadership practices Project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation Basic budgeting and inventory management Customer service principles Applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to park operations Modern office technology and maintenance management systems Skill In: Leading and overseeing maintenance teams Prioritizing tasks, organizing work plans, and completing tasks under time constraints Communicating effectively with staff, visitors, volunteers, and managers Writing and maintaining accurate reports and operational records Identifying maintenance needs, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions Providing excellent customer service in a parks environment Operating grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively ADA and Other Requirements Work Environment and Physical Effort: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in both an office or similar indoor setting, and outdoor environment. Employees may occasionally work in a vehicle.
