Position Details
  • Position: Social Media Marketing Intern

  • Employment Type: Internship (Unpaid) — Eligible for Academic Credit

  • Location: Hybrid (Primarily remote, with required in-person travel to sites and events throughout metro Atlanta)

Schedule
  • Internship Duration: 3–6 Months

  • Weekly Commitment: 20 Hours per week

  • Shift Expectations: Minimum 4-hour time blocks scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

  • General: Participation in team check-ins, event coverage, and periodic site visits.

About the Role

The Social Media Marketing Intern supports the Marketing and Communications Manager in creating, scheduling, and managing engaging digital content across Wellspring Living's social media platforms and email newsletter. Operating within the Development Department, this role plays an essential part in raising public awareness, engaging donors, and sharing inspiring stories of transformation.

This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, campaign execution, visual brand management, and trauma-informed communication. It is an ideal opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented student or recent graduate looking to gain real-world portfolio experience while advancing a meaningful, mission-driven cause.

Key ResponsibilitiesContent Development & Strategy
  • Gain practical experience designing, drafting, and scheduling weekly social media content that aligns with organizational messaging and outreach goals.

  • Learn how to utilize provided multimedia assets (campaign videos, quote graphics, impact metrics) to craft compelling, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed brand stories.

  • Develop skills in digital trend analysis by researching emerging social media strategies and presenting creative content proposals for the active content calendar.

Brand Consistency & Messaging
  • Learn to execute consistent visual brand identity, style guidelines, and trauma-informed messaging frameworks across external digital channels.

  • Build hands-on proficiency in Canva Pro to design polished, campaign-ready graphics highlighting organizational milestones, fundraising events, volunteer spotlights, and impact stories.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
  • Partner with Development Interns, program teams, and volunteers to shadow on-site activities and learn how to ethically capture content, photos, and stories.

  • Receive regular feedback and guidance from the Marketing and Communications Manager to review platform performance, interpret analytics, and refine digital campaign strategies.

  • Gain practical knowledge of email communication tools by assisting in drafting newsletter content using platforms like Constant Contact.

QualificationsRequired
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or a related field.

  • Working proficiency in Canva Pro and familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs).

  • Valid Driver’s License, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and reliable personal vehicle to travel between local program sites, cover events, and attend in-person meetings.

  • Alignment with Wellspring Living’s faith-centered mission, vision, and core values.

Preferred
  • Basic familiarity with email marketing tools and digital layout best practices.

  • Experience or interest in photography/videography for event coverage.
