Overview
The Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all traffic control operations for construction, paving, utility, and roadway projects. This position ensures work zones are established and maintained in compliance with company policies, project specifications, and applicable federal, state, and local traffic control regulations. The supervisor manages traffic control personnel, equipment, and resources to ensure safe and efficient movement of the public and project crews through construction zones.
Requirements
Essential Job Functions
  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily traffic control activities.
  • Review project plans and traffic control layouts to determine personnel, equipment, and signage requirements.
  • Ensure traffic control setups comply with applicable MUTCD standards, state DOT requirements, and project specifications.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify proper installation, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices.
  • Coordinate lane closures, detours, flagging operations, and temporary traffic control measures.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor traffic control technicians and flaggers.
  • Manage inventory of signs, barricades, cones, arrow boards, message boards, and other traffic control devices.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained, inspected, and repaired as necessary.

Qualifications And Education Requirements:
  • Be able to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Related experience in road construction and paving (preferred).
  • High school education or GED equivalent (preferred).
  • Traffic Control Supervisors should have 3+ years of related experience in road construction and Traffic Control (preferred).

Qualification
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Must be willing to travel when needed.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work long hours in extreme weather.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and OSHA guidelines.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Be at least age 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift, carry and hold tools, supplies and materials.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
