FIELD TRAINER/FACILITATOR
ELECTRICAL TRADE

About the Position

Responsible for the delivery of training courses and programs for field and/or office employees. Duties include partnering with leadership to determine training needs, implementing training programs and making appropriate changes to training materials as company procedures, software, and processes are implemented and modified. This position reviews data and feedback from previous training programs to determine effectiveness and success and modifies programs and training materials, as necessary. Ensures thorough and high-quality communication on learner performances, training outcomes and learning & development strategies are achieved, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

  • Uses practical electrical construction and field leadership experience to develop and deliver training.
  • Has electrical construction experience and field leadership experience.
  • Has demonstrated experience coaching, developing, or delivering training to adult learners.

Day in the Life

  • Collaborate with managers and leadership to understand business functions and identify competency and training needs. Conducts performance assessments and determines key learning outcomes. Works with learning & development team to identify coursework needs, priorities and delivery methods, timelines, schedules, deadlines, and partnerships.
  • Partners with subject matter experts to accurately identify key processes and functional and/or technical content for inclusion in training programs and related materials. Solicits feedback on training coursework continuously. Participates in cross functional meetings to identify training needs for new systems, processes, and tools.
  • Partners with instructional designers to create and maintain course curriculum (instructor-led and eLearning), materials, facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids and other content. Provides recommendations on the most effective delivery modality. Applies best practices in instructional design with a focus on maximizing employee productivity, performance, and engagement.
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional methods to deliver engaging and effective training in a virtual or in-person environment.
  • Manages pre- and post-learning activities, communications, and materials. Keeps training content updated in a timely manner. Evaluates the effectiveness of courses, updates programs and continuously improves the quality of training and development programs.
  • Tracks and creates reports on participation and outcomes of all training and maintains training records for the Company.
  • Gathers and evaluates information from employees and management on previous training to identify opportunities for improvement or content modification. Recommend training materials, facility needs or software enhancements for budget preparation. Adheres to approved budget.
  • Provides regular communications, mentoring and teambuilding to managers and co-workers as needed. Stays updated on all required trade and field training and certification requirements.
  • Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent work experience in education, adult learning, instructional system design, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in performing needs assessments, designing and delivering instructor-led and online training for adult learners, and evaluation of learning programs. Experience with learning management systems.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and demonstrated experience working with clients and stakeholders to analyze existing practices and processes, recommend improvements and lead change initiatives as it relates to course delivery. Proficiency with course development using e-learning tools and multimedia programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key learning design concepts such as outcomes-based curriculum.
  • development and competency-based programs, adult learning principles and the learning development life cycle.
  • Expertise in change management, continuous improvement and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
  • Superior listening, collaboration, teamwork, conflict management and verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels, including senior-level management. Ability to work with and facilitate diverse work teams.
  • Exceptional ability to coach, mentor, motivate and develop front line to senior level management employees. Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking skills and detail orientation, and to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative and sensitivity.
