Job description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

The Role

The Senior Trade & Industry Events Manager will be responsible for overseeing Square's trade show and industry event program across retail and food & beverage sectors. This role sits within the Square Events Team and will own tentpole tradeshow and industry event strategy to generate qualified leads, build seller relationships, and effectively showcase Square's solutions. You'll lead Square's presence at the National Restaurant Association, Bar & Restaurant Expo, World of Coffee, among other industry and trade events.

You Will
  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of Square's Tier 1 trade show activations, from booth design and production to on-site logistics and staffing
  • Partner with the Trade Show Event Manager to develop and execute Square's annual trade show strategy, including event selection, budget management, ROI tracking, and strategic recommendations for future investments
  • Work with key industry partners to create and negotiate strategic experiential sponsorships that drive brand awareness and consideration
  • Identify and evaluate new event opportunities to expand Square's presence in key verticals
  • Partner with sales teams to implement effective lead capture processes and ensure proper follow-up
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, product, sales, and partnership teams to develop compelling experiences and ensure alignment on messaging and product demonstrations
  • Manage vendor relationships including agencies, warehousing partners, booth fabricators, AV providers, and various event contractors
  • Create and maintain processes for inventory management, shipping logistics, booth asset maintenance, and documentation of booth specifications and vendor contacts
  • Travel to key trade shows and industry events (up to 25% travel required)
You Have
  • 8+ years of experience in trade show management, event marketing, or experiential marketing
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale trade show programs, including booth design, production, and logistics
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple large-scale events on concurrent timelines
  • Demonstrated success in generating and tracking qualified leads from trade show activities
  • Experience managing budgets of $500k-$1M per event
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills with existing relationships with event contractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to articulate event ROI to leadership
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Background in retail or food & beverage industries preferred
  • Experience in national field event programs preferred
