Job description

As a Tractor Technician at Master Fleet, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing a variety of tractors and other heavy-duty vehicles. Summary Description:

Under the supervision of the Lead technician, Supervisor or Shift Manager the Diesel Technician performs all tractor repairs, completes rebuilds and replacements, performs diagnostic work, makes best value decisions to continue to operate and performs technical repairs and/or replacement.

Major Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Diagnoses and repairs problems in the areas including all external component replacements and routine repairs
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, laptop computers, gauges, and diagnostic test equipment.
  • Perform annual vehicle inspections; perform preventative maintenance and other repairs as necessary.
  • Performs safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by DOT, company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations
  • Comprehension and completion of the repair orders, inventory forms, PM schedules, repair forecasts.
  • Organized and has the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast paced environment, excellent communication skills, team player and strong work ethic

Technical Skills:

Skilled in all types of tooling and equipment. Good communication skills, both written and verbal to create effective interpersonal relationships with coworkers. Ability to work in all types of weather, at times may be very warm and cold. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, read engine schematics and work with computerized programs for diagnostic purposes.
