Job description

Weinig Moulder Operator
Job Summary:
A family-owned and operated business that has been a trusted leader in the lumber manufacturing industry for over 31 years is seeking a skilled Weinig Moulder Operator to lead operations in a crucial division. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a high-performing team that prioritizes safety, quality, and efficiency in premium softwood manufacturing. Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain Weinig moulders to produce precision-milled lumber products.
  • Adjust cutting heads, feed speeds, and tooling to meet quality and production specifications.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company and customer requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the moulder and troubleshoot mechanical or performance issues.
  • Train and mentor team members on machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow and coordinate with other departments to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
  • Track production metrics and machine performance, reporting any issues to management.
  • Assist with tool changes and knife grinding as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience operating Weinig moulders or similar precision woodworking machines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot machinery issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with different wood species, grain patterns, and proper cutting techniques.
  • Experience with grinding, setting up, and maintaining knives for optimal cutting performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise others.
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and general sawmill safety.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in moulder operation, preferably with Weinig machinery.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
