Job Summary:
A family-owned and operated business that has been a trusted leader in the lumber manufacturing industry for over 31 years is seeking a skilled Weinig Moulder Operator to lead operations in a crucial division. Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain Weinig moulders to produce precision-milled lumber products.
- Adjust cutting heads, feed speeds, and tooling to meet quality and production specifications.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company and customer requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance on the moulder and troubleshoot mechanical or performance issues.
- Train and mentor team members on machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and coordinate with other departments to optimize production efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Track production metrics and machine performance, reporting any issues to management.
- Assist with tool changes and knife grinding as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience operating Weinig moulders or similar precision woodworking machines.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot machinery issues.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with different wood species, grain patterns, and proper cutting techniques.
- Experience with grinding, setting up, and maintaining knives for optimal cutting performance.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise others.
- Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and general sawmill safety.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in moulder operation, preferably with Weinig machinery.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
