Job description

Description:

The Wind Field Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality standards are met during the construction, installation, and commissioning of wind energy projects. This role performs field inspections, verifies compliance with engineering specifications and safety requirements, and supports continuous quality improvement across project activities.

The position works closely with construction teams, contractors, project management, and OEM representatives to ensure all work is completed according to company standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.


Field Quality Inspections
  • Conduct daily field inspections of wind turbine installation and construction activities. 
  • Verify work complies with project drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards. 
  • Inspect foundations, tower erection, mechanical installation, electrical systems, and balance-of-plant activities.
  • Identify non-conformances and document quality deviations.
     
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to company QA/QC programs and procedures. 
  • Monitor contractor compliance with quality requirements. 
  • Support implementation of inspection and test plans (ITPs). 
  • Verify materials, equipment, and installation processes meet specifications.
     
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete inspection reports, quality checklists, and field documentation. 
  • Maintain accurate quality records and turnover documentation. 
  • Track punch list items and corrective actions through completion. 
  • Support project quality audits and internal reviews.
     
  • Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with site leadership to resolve quality issues. 
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. 
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance quality performance. 
  • Communicate quality concerns proactively to project stakeholders.
     
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Work closely with construction managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors. 
  • Interface with OEM representatives and third-party inspectors. 
  • Participate in daily site meetings and quality briefings. 
  • Promote a strong quality culture across the project site.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred. 
  • 3+ years of field quality, QA/QC, or inspection experience in construction, energy, or industrial projects. 
  • Experience with wind turbine installation or renewable energy projects preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. 
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Pre-Employment Requirements 

Candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening prior to hiring. This role is considered safety-sensitive and may be subject to ongoing drug and testing in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.    

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wind industry experience (turbine erection, commissioning, or BOP). 
  • Quality certifications (ISO 9001, CWI, NCCER, or equivalent). 
  • Knowledge of torque & tensioning, bolt inspections, or electrical QA/QC. 
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.
