Job description
Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking Journeyman Crane Operators to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.
We offer day, evening and weekend shifts with excellent premiums for evening and weekend day shifts. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
- Drive the crane to the job site.
- Rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).
- Set up the machine for the lift (make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.
- Booms (including telescoping booms and articulating booms possessing live lines) capable of swinging, hoisting and booming up and down with a lifting capacity of greater than 5 tons (4.5 tonnes) and less than 45 tons (40.8 tons).
- Service and operate travelling, fixed or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.
- Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
- Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
- 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
- As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
- This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
