Summary

The Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for servicing products, diagnosing problems, performing repairs, installation of new systems according to blueprints and wiring plans, and performing preventative maintenance support per customer/office requests or scheduled contract terms of our commercial customers.

Essential Functions

  • Provide repair and preventative maintenance troubleshooting skills for Commercial HVAC systems, such as cleaning filters, coils, and ducts, lubricating parts, and checking system performance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Install new HVAC systems, including heating units, air conditioning units, ductwork, and thermostats in commercial buildings
  • Work closely with the Sales Department and Commercial Director to ensure timely, profitable, and completion of installations and service work.
  • Diagnose and repair diverse service issues, remove defective parts, replace parts and calibrate systems per manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Customer service focused with ability to communicate with clients, so they understand their HVAC needs, provide solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Document all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
  • Understand Company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoices at job site.
  • Inform customers of potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
  • Maintain adherence to OSHA, EPA, customer and company safety regulations and rules.
  • Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
  • Maintain good working order of Company vehicle. Includes: refueling and servicing as necessary, reporting mechanical issues, washing, and cleaning the company vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • EPA Certification required.
  • Three (3) years of proven experience as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC systems.
  • Ability and desire to be cross trained in additional equipment for year-round work.
  • 3+ years’ experience with commercial application RTU’s, ERU’s, WSHP’s, VRF’s, PIU, VAV
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, LG and Samsung mini splits.
  • Chiller, boiler, and cooling tower experience a plus
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and be on call for emergency repairs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid Driver's license with the ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • NATE certification and experience with Service Titan, a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and advanced Phone Apps

Physical Activities & Requirements

  • Physical Strength: Walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, reaching (including overhead), climbing ladders/stairs and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Environment: Work in varying temperatures including non-climate-controlled areas occasionally with extreme temperatures
  • Schedule: Must be available to work nights and weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers
  • Visual Abilities: Must be able to correctly differentiate between colors.
  • Other: Must be proficient in the use of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices
