What is a tour?

Tours jobs involve planning, organizing, and leading guided experiences for groups or individuals to various destinations. People in these roles, such as tour guides or tour managers, provide information about the places visited, ensure the safety and comfort of participants, and handle logistics like transportation and scheduling. They play a key role in enhancing travelers' experiences by sharing local history, culture, and interesting facts. Tours jobs can be found in travel agencies, museums, historic sites, and with adventure companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tour guide, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tour Guide, you need in-depth knowledge of local history and culture, strong storytelling abilities, and often a relevant tourism or hospitality qualification. Familiarity with booking software, audio equipment, and sometimes foreign language proficiency or guiding certifications are typically required. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills help tour guides engage diverse groups and handle unexpected situations. These skills are essential for delivering memorable experiences, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining safety throughout tours.

What are some common challenges faced by tour guides, and how can they be addressed?

Tour guides often face challenges such as managing diverse group dynamics, adapting to last-minute changes in itineraries, and handling unexpected situations like bad weather or transportation delays. Effective communication, flexibility, and thorough preparation are key to overcoming these challenges. Building strong local knowledge and staying calm under pressure help tour guides ensure a positive experience for guests, even when things don’t go as planned.

What you’ll be doing

The Tennessee Titans are looking for a visionary, guest-focused, and strategic Director, Stadium Tours. This role will serve as the architect and driving force behind the creation of a premier Stadium Tours program for the new Nissan Stadium.

The Director, Stadium Tours will shape the vision, innovate the guest experience, and oversee the operational, commercial, and creative elements that bring Titans history and culture to life. This position blends strategic leadership, hospitality excellence, and immersive storytelling – ensuring every guest walks away feeling more connected to the Tennessee Titans and the city of Nashville.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation, launch, and long-term strategy of a world-class Stadium Tours program at the new Nissan Stadium
  • Develop a full suite of tour experiences – including public, private, VIP, themed, and educational products – that position the stadium as a premier destination
  • Design every element of the guest journey, ensuring hospitality excellence, immersive storytelling, memorable photo moments, and seamless execution
  • Integrate Titans history, culture, values, and community impact into scripts, exhibits, and interactive touchpoints throughout the tour
  • Drive group sales across consumer, corporate, school, and travel segments, including pricing, revenue strategy, and pipeline management
  • Oversee daily tour operations: scheduling, staffing, routing, capacity, guest flow, ADA compliance, and safety coordination
  • Collaborate with Stadium Operations, Security, Facilities, A/V, IT, Concessions, Retail, and Marketing to ensure consistent on-brand experiences
  • Use data and guest feedback to optimize programming, operational efficiency, staffing models, and content updates
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of tour managers, hosts, and guides
  • Manage program budgets and P&Ls, creating dashboards to track attendance, revenue, NPS, retail performance, and operational KPIs

What you’ll bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Is a visionary experience-builder who loves designing moments that feel special, memorable, and deeply connected to a brand’s story
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments and can balance creativity, storytelling, operations, and business strategy at once

  • Brings a collaborative spirit and enjoys partnering across departments to achieve shared goals
  • Inspires teams through strong communication, coaching, and accountability
  • Is passionate about innovation and is always seeking ways to elevate the experience through technology, design, or service enhancements
  • Approaches challenges with a solution-oriented mindset and embraces continuous improvement
  • Is detail-obsessed, organized, and capable of managing multiple complex operational components simultaneously
  • Has strong commercial instincts – comfortable with sales, revenue strategy, and date-driven decision making

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Hospitality, Tourism, Sports Management, or a related field
  • 7 – 10 years of progressive experience in stadium/venue tours, guest experience, events, experiential marketing, or museum/attraction operations
  • 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven ability to create and scale guest experiences that drive attendance, revenue, and brand affinity
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience managing budgets and P&Ls
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation abilities, and a guest-first mindset

Core Competencies:

  • Communication: Leads and inspires a team of managers, hosts, and guides while translating Titans history and brand values into scripts and guest-facing content.
  • Collaboration: Delivers consistent, on-brand experiences across Stadium Operations, Security, Facilities, A/V, IT, Concessions, Retail, and Marketing.
  • Adaptability: Balances creative storytelling, daily operations, and commercial strategy simultaneously with no existing playbook to lean on.
  • Strategic Thinking: Builds long-term program vision, pricing and revenue strategy, and pipeline management across consumer, corporate, school, and travel segments.
  • Customer Focus: Thinks with a guest-first mindset to create memorable moments and use guest feedback (NPS) to continuously optimize the experience.
