Job description

Job: Care Connection Specialist
Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Job Category: 5 Administrative Support Workers
Position Summary
The Care Connection Specialist screens incoming patient calls in a clinic setting and enters necessary personal, financial and/or other information necessary to ensure patient is scheduled at the appropriate clinic site. The Care Connection Specialist maintains confidentiality and complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Essential Functions
-Appropriately screens calls to ensure patients are scheduled correctly and according to scheduling protocol.
-Maintains professional telephone etiquette when screening calls.
-Repeats provider's name, date, time, and location of appointment before completing call.
-Receives permission from caller prior to placing calls on hold.
-Uses good judgment when answering inquiries or relaying appropriate information.
-Recognizes when to direct call to provider or another service.
-Demonstrates ability to function independently.
-Maintains flexibility and organizational skills.
-Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
-Maintains attendance to support required quality and quantity of work.
-Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
-Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
-One year of medical office experience preferred.
-One year of experience in patient scheduling preferred.
Education
-High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
