Job description

Position Summary

The Machine Operator I assists the Machine Operator II and Line Leads for line set ups, repairs, part replacement, adjustments, and preventive maintenance of filling and packaging equipment according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Follows safety precautions to prevent product contamination and injuries to self or others.

Schedules available:ย 

  • 2nd shift Monday-Friday 3:00pm โ€“ 12:00am.
  • 3rd shift Friday- Sunday 5:00am โ€“ 6:00pm.
  • Overtime may be required for this position.ย 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Assists Line Leads for repair, part replacement, adjustments, and preventive maintenance of filling and packaging equipment in accordance with GMP and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) (ensuring machinery is off before performing maintenance or repair), hot work, confined spaces work, use of powered industrial machines, etc.
  • Repairs, installs, and adjusts industrial machinery such as pulverizers, blenders, powder presses, conveyors, lasers, ink printers, labelers, and cartoners.
  • Performs or assists in the set-up of Production Lines scheduled to run on a daily basis according to product and customer specifications; this could include weigh set up, torque, labeling, coding, or any machinery necessary for the assembly and packaging of Finished Goods.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance.
  • Disassembles filling equipment for cleaning and sanitization and re-assembles once clean, sanitized, and has passed QC swab test.
  • Records any mechanical adjustments to filling equipment in appropriate Equipment Cleaning, Maintenance, and Use Logbooks.
  • Cleans equipment as needed.
  • Focuses on safety, ensuring machinery is turned off via E-Stop before performing cleaning or maintenance, does not reach into moving equipment.

Technical Skills Required

  • Familiar with industrial tools and equipment.
  • Able to read and write English.

Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch, and stoop repeatedly.
  • Physically able to lift 75 pounds and manipulate up to a 500-pound drum on a regular basis.
  • Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, electrical, chemicals, and vibrations.
  • Prolonged use of computer screen.
