U.S. Army Neurosurgeons assess, diagnose and treats surgical, neurological complications in Soldiers and their families

If you are a professional in the neurosurgery field and have the desire to use your skills to serve our nation’s heroes, a career as an Army Neurosurgeon might be the one for you.

As a Neurosurgeon in the U.S. Army, you will combine your trainings in both neurology and surgery to provide care to Soldiers and their families. You may have opportunities conducting research for the development of your field and consult other top specialists in neurology and neurosurgery. In addition to your research and patient care, you will attend trainings, continued education courses, seminars and conferences to develop yourself as a healthcare professional and an Army officer.

If you choose to join the Army Reserve, you will be able to serve your country as needed while still supporting your community.

Whether you choose to serve Active duty or Army Reserve, a career as an Army Neurosurgeon allows you to serve the Army in critical ways.

Eligibility Requirements

★ Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy

★ Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates

★ Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico

★ Must be eligible for board certification

★ Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship

★ Must have completed a training program in neurosurgery

★ Must be a U.S. citizen to serve Active Duty

★ Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
