Job description

NOW HIRING - TERMINAL OPERATOR
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for safely unloading & strategically moving intermodal containers within the railyard.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize handheld electronic devices safely. Verify and scan driver missions as they in-gate and out-gate keeping inventory correct.
  • Inspect in-gating equipment for damages and document findings accordingly.
  • Direct third-party drivers and customers to their designated locations.
  • Understand outbound destinations and the location of those destinations within the yard as well as modifying destination restrictions as needed.
  • Administrative duties as needed: answer phones, assisting employee/customers with questions, working closely with Company and Customer management, and ensuring compliance with facility and Company rules.
  • Act as a spotter between heavy equipment operators; Top Loaders, Hostler, Cranes, etc.
  • Climb rail car ladders to lock and unlock intermodal containers.
  • Drive Hostler in railyard to transport and store intermodal container to and from trackside.
  • Move intermodal containers from railcars to trailers via Top Loaders, Side Loaders, Cranes, etc.
  • Compliance and participation in safety guidelines and programs.
  • Inventory management and other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate would have:
Education:
  • High school diploma/equivalent is preferred.

Experience:
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (Crane, Top Loader, Hostler, Forklift, etc.) is preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
  • Ability to adapt and learn heavy equipment machines, such as Reach Stacks, Side Loaders, Forklifts, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb up railcars (up to 20 feet)
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Open availability required; all Shifts, Holidays & Weekends, schedule changes based on demand.
  • Willingness to complete a criminal background, drug screen and physical.
  • Must possess and continuously maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
