Top Doctor information

What is a top doctor?

A Top Doctor is a physician who has been recognized for excellence in their field, often based on peer nominations, patient reviews, and professional achievements. These doctors are typically featured in 'Top Doctor' lists published by reputable healthcare organizations, magazines, or review platforms. The selection process often evaluates their credentials, experience, outcomes, and contributions to medical research or education. Being named a Top Doctor signifies a high level of trust and respect within the medical community and among patients.

How does a top doctor typically balance clinical responsibilities with research or administrative duties?

Top Doctors often juggle multiple roles, including patient care, research, and administrative leadership. Balancing these responsibilities requires strong time management and prioritization skills. Most Top Doctors dedicate specific days or time blocks to clinical work, while allocating separate periods for research or administrative meetings. Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and delegating tasks when possible also helps maintain this balance. This structure allows Top Doctors to contribute to patient care while advancing medical knowledge and supporting their institution's goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a top doctor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Top Doctor, you need exceptional clinical expertise, board certification in your specialty, and a strong educational background such as an MD or DO degree. Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools, electronic health records (EHRs), and relevant medical technologies is crucial. Outstanding communication, empathy, leadership, and problem-solving skills set top physicians apart. These skills are vital for ensuring excellent patient outcomes, building trust, and leading healthcare teams effectively.

Associate Orthodontist - The Modern Orthodontist & Portland Braces

Portland, OR

Full-time

Job description

Associate Orthodontist

Lead the Evolution of Two Growing, Patient-Focused Practices!
The Modern Orthodontist – Vancouver, Washington & Portland Braces – Portland, Oregon

The Modern Orthodontist and Portland Braces are seeking an experienced Associate Orthodontist to join and help shape the next chapter of two patient-centered practices serving the greater Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area.

Led by Dr. Gretchen Schnepper, these established practices have a strong clinical foundation and loyal patient base and are currently in an exciting phase of transformation focused on elevating the patient experience, strengthening operations, and driving sustainable growth. This is a unique opportunity for an orthodontist who is motivated by impact—someone who is energized by building, improving, and leading through positive change.

With locations on both sides of the Columbia River, this role offers the opportunity to practice across Washington and Oregon while serving a diverse patient population. For the right individual, this position also presents a clear path toward long-term growth, leadership development, and potential future partnership.

Why Vancouver, Washington & Portland, Oregon?

Few metropolitan areas offer the lifestyle and career opportunities found in the Portland-Vancouver region. Nestled in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, the area combines vibrant city living with unparalleled access to outdoor recreation, making it an ideal place to build both a career and a life.

From hiking in the Columbia River Gorge and skiing on Mount Hood to exploring Portland’s renowned food scene, local wineries, craft breweries, and eclectic neighbourhoods, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy your time outside the practice. The region is also known for its strong sense of community, excellent schools, thriving arts and culture scene, and easy access to both the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains.

Whether you're seeking urban amenities, outdoor adventure, or a family-friendly community, the Portland-Vancouver area offers the best of all worlds.

About the Role:

This opportunity is ideal for an orthodontist seeking clinical autonomy, long-term growth, and the opportunity to practice across two established orthodontic offices in one of the Pacific Northwest's most desirable markets. The Associate Orthodontist will provide comprehensive orthodontic care at The Modern Orthodontist in Vancouver, Washington, and Portland Braces in Portland, Oregon, delivering exceptional clinical outcomes and patient experiences within modern, technology-driven practice environments.

We are offering a highly competitive, premium compensation structure to recognize the level of experience, leadership, and commitment needed for this role. The successful candidate will partner closely with leadership and an experienced team to enhance clinical excellence, optimize patient flow, and further develop a thriving, relationship-driven practice culture.

While an experienced orthodontist is preferred, candidates at all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply. Applicants may currently hold orthodontic licensure in either Washington or Oregon, provided they are willing to obtain licensure in the second state to support care across both locations. This role offers the potential to establish a long-term presence within the practices and pursue future leadership and partnership opportunities.

What We Offer through Corus Orthodontists Doctor Excellence Program:

Mentorship That Matters –Join a network that can provide personalized coaching from top Corus doctors in clinical care, leadership, and business.
Tailored Clinical Development Plan – Access a roadmap with key clinical milestones and resources designed to support your professional growth.
Connection & Collaboration – Tap into a vibrant community of like-minded orthodontists for ongoing learning and support.
Robust Rewards – Enjoy a competitive day rate, bonus opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Path to Partnership – A clear and supported route to becoming a principal doctor, at your own pace.

At Corus, we don’t just offer associate doctor positions - we offer a true pathway to partnership. Our model is designed to make ownership more accessible to you through a lower, more flexible buy-in structure, giving you the chance to build equity without taking on the full weight of running a practice alone.

As part of our network, you’ll have access to top doctor mentors who are invested in your growth, as well as a community that values continuing education, clinical excellence, and the latest technological advancements. When the time is right, you’ll have the opportunity to step into ownership with a significant equity stake in a growing, doctor-led company, all while knowing you’re supported by a collaborative network that shares resources, expertise, and a vision for the future of orthodontics.

If you are excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and play a key role in this next phase of evolution, we would love to connect!
