Job description

BayCare Medical Group, the leading medical group in the Tampa Bay area, is seeking an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Pediatric Cardiologist, preferably with fetal cardiology experience, to join a well-established, multi-subspecialty group serving the Tampa Bay area for over 50 years. This position is based primarily at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and focuses on congenital cardiac CT imaging and participation in inpatient care including transesophageal echocardiography.  Fetal cardiology experience is preferred but not required. 

The ideal candidate will be board-certified/board-eligible in pediatric cardiology and possess excellent clinical skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and a passion for advancing the field of cardiology. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and make a meaningful impact on the cardiovascular health of our community.

Position Highlights

  • Cardiac Imaging: Interpret pre- and post-operative congenital cardiac CT scans, provide imaging guidance for staff, and contribute expertise in echocardiography. Experience with congenital cardiac MRI is also preferred but not necessary.
  • Inpatient Responsibilities: Participate in the inpatient pediatric cardiology rotation, including performing pre- and post-operative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
  • Fetal Cardiology: The ideal candidate will also be able to occasionally staff an established Fetal Cardiology Clinic. This includes assisting our dedicated fetal sonographers in complex fetal image acquisition and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships with referring providers in the area.
  • General Cardiology Call: Call coverage is shared equally among 12+ full-time pediatric cardiologists in the group.

  • First opened its doors in 1977 as the first pediatric cardiology program on the west coast of Florida.
  • Nationally and internationally respected with specialists in all areas of pediatric cardiology- including fetal, arrhythmia, catheterization,
    cardiomyopathy, transplant, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac imaging, preventative and weight management cardiology and adult congenital
    cardiology.
  • One of the largest comprehensive programs in the state of Florida, serving over 25,000 patients per year.
  • State-of-the-art cardiac care fully supported by other pediatric subspecialty services.
  • One of only two programs in the state of Florida to be accredited as an ACHD Comprehensive Care Center by the Adult Congenital Heart Association.
  • Passionate, supportive and extensively experienced team of multi-specialty cardiologists, surgeons and supported by a team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants. 

  • Board certification/board eligibility in Cardiology.
  • Advanced training or significant experience in advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging, including congenital cardiac CT and TEE modalities.
  • State medical licensure or eligibility for licensure in Florida.
  • Fetal cardiology experience is also preferred.
