The Opportunity

We are seeking a strong Accounting Manager.  Must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and have excellent organizational skills.   Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.  Must be strong in Excel and other Microsoft applications and be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment, high growth environment.   

Responsibilities

  • Supports Business Unit controller in the delivery of financial results and analysis for our Arizona and Nevada business units, including communications with BU leadership.
  • Coordinate accounting daily operations at the Business Unit and with Meriton Shared Services including:
  • Working with accounting shared services to ensure AP and AR processes are completed timely and accurately for the business unit.
    • Cash receipts, cash forecasting, treasury and budgeting activity.
    • Disbursements.
    • General ledger entries, account reconciliation, fixed asset activity.
    • Revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
    • Debt activity.
    • Insurance activity.
  • Owns key parts of the month end close and reconciliation processes
    • Monitor and analyze accounting data.
    • Set up and monitor accounting KPIs.
    • Regularly produce financial reports and statements.
    •  Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
    •  Recruit, hire and train new employees.
    •  Assist and oversee the annual audit.
    •  Assist and oversee the annual budget.
    • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Support sales as needed with project and customer matters.
  • Supports AR collection efforts, including cashflow analysis and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Business Unit Controller to follow Meriton accounting policies and maintain a strong control environment.
  • Support the overall Meriton external audit.
  • Ad hoc requests as necessary

The Required Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years accounting experience, HVAC or construction experience a plus
  • Experience with integrated ERP, Microsoft D365 a plus
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong business acumen with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Operations and commercial literacy
  • Ability to deliver accurate and detailed reports in a timely manner.
  • CPA desired but not required.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
