About this Role
The Toolmaker / Mold Maker position is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their skills. Our machines help produce thousands of our dispensing products each day. So, it's important to keep them running efficiently and continuously. Toolmakers / Mold Makers maintains the plastic injection molds used in our production facility. Here's a list of duties that our Production Coordinator performs on a typical day:
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution of tooling concerns as they apply to Assembly Equipment and Injection Molds.
  • Set up and operate general tool room equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders, etc.).
  • Visually capable of working on complex miniature components.
  • Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, modify existing tooling.
  • Ability to create angles, radius on all tooling, to create high quality, tight tolerance parts.
  • Mentors Apprentices and Assistants
  • Supports the day-to-day unscheduled activities.
  • Must have strong mathematical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Candidates must have:
  • Min of High School Education or GED required
  • Possession of Journeyperson card.
  • Must have 3-5 years in a Plastics Manufacturing Environment.

Preferred Candidates will have:
  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read, interpret engineer drawings.
  • Knowledge of Injection Mold Process / Tooling.
  • General knowledge of common molding resins (Polypropylene, Polyethylene, etc.).
  • Must be able to understand and perform to quality standards and methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • The desire to expand knowledge base.

Physical Demands (Reasonable accommodations provided):
  • Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping.
