POSITION OVERVIEW
The Wabtec location in Jackson, TN is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Manufacturing Engineering Technician. The ideal candidate will approach day to day work with a world class attitude while interacting with other team members from other departments. This candidate will possess specialized expertise in technical processes or procedures to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. They will, at times complete work assignments while facilitating the work activities of others. Work completed will take place in all process areas of the facility. The individual will work autonomously within established policies and procedures; proposing improvements to processes as needed. This position is being posted for 2nd or 3rd shift.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 8+ years in a high-performance manufacturing environment
  • Tool and Die (Diploma from Technology College for Tool & Die/Machinist a plus)
  • Set up and adjustment of presses used for manufacturing fins for heat exchangers

OTHER SKILLS AND PERSONAL TRAITS BEING SOUGHT
  • Welding: Arc, MIG, and TIG on mild steel, stainless, and aluminum

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote a safe and environmentally friendly culture
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on progressive punch press equipment
  • Develop new product tooling and fixturing
  • Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
  • Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Process and initiate engineering change requests to drive improvements in quality, cost, lead time, and capacity
  • Work directly with operators, supervisors, and engineering in running, maintaining, troubleshooting of automated stamping, machining, and assembly equipment
  • Maintain shift work records to track work completed
  • Work with other ME Technicians on projects (quality rate improvements, downtime reduction, etc.)
  • Gather and analyze process data to reduce tooling costs, maintain or exceed capacity vs. demand targets, as well as other improvement initiatives
  • Champion a Lean culture

The pay range for this role is $32.00-$36.00. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
