ROLE SUMMARY

The Tool Crib Coordinator develops, organizes, and maintains production tooling, fixture, and gaging inventories. The role ensures accurate documentation,

manages consumption rates, establishes preventive maintenance schedules, and supports production efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee receipt, issuance, and disbursement of plant tooling and fixtures.

• Develop and maintain accurate tooling inventory records, documentation, and tracking.

• Analyze consumption data to forecast usage and adjust stock levels.

• Define and monitor minimum/maximum stock levels to prevent shortages and excess inventory.

• Establish, monitor, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for tooling and equipment.

• Manage part-kitting processes to ensure timely availability of tools and components for production.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities in tooling procurement, storage, and utilization.

• Investigate excessive tooling consumption and recommend corrective actions.

• Work with production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues on the shop floor.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase tooling efficiency and reduce operating costs.

• Maintain compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.

• Perform other duties assigned by the Supply Chain Manager or management in support of organizational goals.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for tooling and inventory management preferred.

• Technical aptitude and ability to retain tooling and equipment knowledge.

• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or other process-improvement practices preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand, walk, and move within production and storage areas for extended periods.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. safely.

• Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, dust, and machinery.

• Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves, while on the shop floor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred.
