Topre America is seeking an experienced Die Maintenance Team Leader to join our Tool Room team in Springfield, Ohio. This position is ideal for a highly skilled die maintenance professional with leadership experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.
The Die Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing die repair activities, directing tool room associates, coordinating repair priorities, and ensuring critical repair information is communicated across shifts to support uninterrupted production.
Candidates must successfully complete Topre America's written assessment before advancing to the interview process. Successful candidates may also be required to complete a hands-on skills evaluation.

Position Summary
The Die Maintenance Team Leader provides technical leadership and direction within the Tool Room while remaining actively involved in die repair and maintenance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring tooling repairs are completed efficiently, documenting repair history, forecasting future tooling needs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will lead by example, demonstrate strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities, and possess extensive experience in metal stamping die maintenance.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and direct Tool Room associates through hands-on leadership and mentorship.
- Assign and prioritize daily work activities within the Tool Room.
- Make repair decisions regarding tooling condition, repair methods, and production readiness.
- Ensure continuity of repair activities between shifts through accurate communication and documentation.
- Monitor tooling repair progress and support production schedules.
- Assist with training and development of Tool Room personnel.
- Promote a positive work environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork.
- Maintain accurate documentation used to track tooling repairs and forecast future maintenance needs.
Technical Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain progressive and transfer dies.
- Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
- Perform TIG welding and tool steel repair.
- Operate Tool Room equipment, including:
- Manual Mills
- Surface Grinders
- Lathes
- Hand Grinding Equipment
- Support production through timely tooling repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot tooling and manufacturing issues to minimize downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Tool Room.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1.5 years of Tool Room die maintenance experience.
- Ability to lead and direct associates effectively.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Stable work history with strong attendance record.
- Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
- Ability to work any shift as required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules when necessary.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
Education & Experience Requirements
Option 1
- Associate Degree (or equivalent) in Tool & Die Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on Tool & Die experience.
Option 2
- Minimum of 5 years of documented Die Maintenance experience in a metal stamping environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership or supervisory experience within a Tool Room environment.
- Experience with transfer and progressive stamping dies.
- Experience with crane operation and rigging.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with:
- SurfCAM
- WorkNC
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- Microsoft Office
Testing Requirements
All applicants must successfully complete:
- Written Die Maintenance Assessment
- Hands-On Skills Evaluation (for candidates who pass the written assessment)
- Interview Process
Testing is also available for qualified employees seeking advancement to higher pay levels.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to safely operate Tool Room equipment and overhead cranes.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment.
