TITLE:ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Staff Mechanical Design Engineer

Duties:ย ย ย ย  Provide design-focused support and technical issue resolution for our battery module and pack. Execute design solutions for new battery module and pack platforms, release drawings, support engineering validation of new designs and proposed changes and support change management functions. Full subsystem and component design responsibility, from concept through production launch and ramp. Develop and optimize the design of complex parts and assemblies in 3D CAD software with associated CAE tools. Deliver design specifications (dimensional, functional, performance, manufacturing) to defined schedules, through meticulous release of 2D part/assembly drawings. Work cross-functionally to help define validation test plans and supporting documentation (test plans and DFMEA). Develop new technologies and relentlessly strive to improve existing products. Collaborate with the broader engineering team to provide DFA/DFM feedback and assist in the development of significant design specifications, FMEAs, DOEs, verification and validation protocols. Participate in sourcing and growing engineering relationships with suppliers to facilitate design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback and tool development. Thermal systems specialty.

REQUIREMENTS: ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

Main Education and Experience: Bachelorโ€™s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and eight (8) years of experience as a (all levels) Design Engineer or related occupation where required experience gained.

Special Skills:ย ย  Also requires experience in the following:

  • 5 years in automotive thermal systems;
  • 1 year in Battery, EV powertrain, or high voltage systems;
  • Design engineering in the automotive or transportation industries;
  • Designing and analyzing high voltage/current joints (welded, bolted, etc.);
  • Dispensed materials such as powder coating, and thermal interface;
  • Contribution to at least 3 full product development cycles; design, development, test, manufacturing, and assembly operations;
  • Prototype builds and DOEs for performance evaluation and hardware test and validation for electromechanical systems;
  • 3D CAD design and 2D drafting (including GD&T) of mechanical components; and
  • Designing for multiple forms of high-volume manufacturing methods, including die casting, extrusion, injection/ compression molding, welding, stamping, etc.ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย
