As an OSP Construction Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in expanding Lumos' fiber network and delivering the reliable connectivity that powers our communities. You'll oversee contractor performance, resolve field challenges, and drive multiple fiber construction projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. Working closely with cross-functional teams and contractor partners, you'll help keep projects moving from field readiness through closeout while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency every step of the way.

This field-based position requires regular onsite work throughout the Houston, Texas market, so candidates must reside within the Pearland, Texas market and be able to travel between active jobsites.

Why Lumos:

Lumos is transforming the future of connectivity by building one of the nation's fastest-growing 100% Fiber Optic networks. Through T-Fiber, our joint venture with T-Mobile, we're working toward a shared goal of connecting 12 to 15 million homes by 2030 while expanding access to reliable, high-speed internet in the communities we serve.

Here, you'll find more than a job, you'll have the opportunity to make an impact, take ownership of your work, and help shape how we grow. We move quickly, collaborate across teams, and believe the best ideas come from people who are curious, solutions-oriented, and ready to build what's next.

What You'll Do:

  • Own multiple OSP builds across the market from construction readiness through closeout.
  • Set clear expectations for contractors and subcontractors, holding teams accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Track production, schedules, costs, risks, and field progress, and keep stakeholders informed with clear, timely updates.
  • Inspect active jobsites and ensure work meets OSHA, NESC, Lumos, and applicable construction standards.
  • Coordinate permitting, materials, utilities, municipalities, and other field dependencies that keep construction moving.
  • Resolve field roadblocks and community concerns quickly, professionally, and with sound judgment.
  • Partner across Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to improve how Lumos plans, builds, and scales.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and buried fiber construction, including OSHA and NESC requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors and several active construction projects at the same time.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to travel throughout the market; company vehicle and mobile phone provided.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, telecommunications engineering, network deployment, or related field operations.
  • Direct experience with FTTH, fiber broadband, telecommunications, or utility construction.
  • Experience with Sitetracker, Smartsheet, or a similar construction or project-management platform.
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities and utilities while improving processes in a fast-moving build environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent travel, walking, and standing at active construction sites in varying weather and on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and appropriate safety footwear.
  • Regular use of computers and standard office equipment, along with the communication and judgment needed to inspect work and coordinate field activity.
