Where You Will Work   

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do
  • Safely performs maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and processes in the Milling plant including mills, conveyors, screens and like systems.  
  • Assist with and perform component replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: conveyor systems, ball mills, auto mills, screen decks, lube systems, filter drums, crushers, hydraulic filter presses, and foundry pumps 
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: identify potential failures/noises/wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, gear boxes 
  • May perform welding (Stick, TIG) 
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections 
  • Perform other duties as required 
What You Bring To Freeport
  • One (1) year of experience in mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance 
  • Ability read and use schematics and blue prints 
  • Must have completed academic and competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees), and have experience demonstrating required mechanical aptitude.  Selected candidate shall demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment.  This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.00.XX - $32.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
