Position Overview:
Daniels Tire Service is seeking Tire Technicians for the Yard and Pad.  Responsibilities include the inspection, maintenance, installation, and repair of tires for a variety of vehicles and equipment within the yard and pad area. This role requires attention to detail, technical skill, and an understanding of safety protocols related to tire handling. The Tire Technician will work closely with other team members to ensure that vehicles and equipment are ready for operational use and that tire-related issues are promptly addressed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Tire Inspections and Assessments:
    • Conduct regular inspections of tires on vehicles and equipment in the yard and pad.
    • Identify tire damage, wear, or abnormalities, and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
    • Evaluate tire pressures and conditions to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Tire Installation and Replacement:
    • Remove and install tires on vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment.
    • Perform tire service as required to ensure optimal performance and safety.
    • Ensure tires are safely and properly inflated to manufacturer-recommended specifications,.
  • Tire Repair and Maintenance:
    • Perform tire patching, plugging, or other repairs as needed.
    • Maintain tire inventory, track wear and usage patterns, and assist with the ordering of new tires as necessary.
    • Assist in keeping tire storage areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when handling tires, tools, and equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the yard and pad area, including proper disposal of scrap tires.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
    • Use cages when inflating all tires
    • Torque all tires
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Operate tire-changing equipment, and air compressors safely and efficiently.
    • Maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Record tire usage, repairs, and replacements in the appropriate tracking systems.
    • Report any issues or potential hazards in the yard and pad to the supervisor.
    • Complete and sign off  on work orders as required
    • Complete Waste Tire Manifests as required for CalRecycle
  • Team Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other technicians and yard staff to coordinate tire-related tasks and operations.
    • Provide assistance to team members when necessary and contribute to team goals.
Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience as a tire technician or in a related role (preferably in a yard or fleet environment) is preferred.
    • Experience with tire mounting, balancing, and repair techniques is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of tire types, sizes, and usage specifications.
    • Ability to operate tire-related equipment and tools (e.g., tire changers, wheel balancers).
    • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100+  lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
    • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and outdoor environments.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks

  • Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in the yard and pad area.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, dirt, and mechanical equipment.
  • Work schedule Monday - Friday approximately 40 hours per week
