Job description

About Cyngn
Based in Mountain View, CA, Cyngn is a publicly-traded autonomous technology company. We deploy self-driving industrial vehicles -ย specifically autonomous tuggers -ย to factories, warehouses, and other facilities throughout North America. To build this emergent technology, we are looking for innovative, motivated, and experienced leaders to join us and move this field forward. If you like to build, tinker, and create with a team of trusted and passionate colleagues, then Cyngn is the place for you. Key reasons to join Cyngn:ย
ย
We are small and big.
With under 100 employees, Cyngn operates with the energy of a startup. On the other hand, we're publicly traded. This means our employees not only work in close-knit teams with mentorship from company leaders-they also get access to the liquidity of our publicly-traded equity.
ย
We build today and deploy tomorrow.
Our autonomous vehicles aren't just test concepts-they're deployed to real clients right now. That means your work will have a tangible, visible impact.
ย
We aren't robots. We just develop them.
We're a welcoming, diverse team of sharp thinkers and kind humans. Collaboration and trust drive our creative environment. At Cyngn, everyone's perspective matters-and that's what powers our innovation.
ย
About this role:ย
As Cyngn scales its production deployments of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), we are seeking a highly capable Field Services Engineer to join our growing team. This role is essential to the success of our customer deployment production operationsย  and requires both technical skill and field service acumen.
ย
Based in Mountain View, CA, this role involves frequent travel to customer sites to support, maintain, and troubleshoot our deployed robotic systems.
ย
This position bridges hands-on hardware interaction, field maintenance, software updates, and close collaboration with engineering and operations teams. You willย  be a key player in keeping our production systems running smoothly in real-world customer environments.
Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer locations to perform installation, repair, upgrades, and calibration of production robotic systems.ย
  • Conduct field-based diagnostics, perform root cause analysis, and execute corrective actions to maintain uptime.ย
  • Collaborate with Engineering Services and Engineering teams to deploy software updates, log issues, and provide feedback from the field.ย
  • Replace and configure hardware components, sensors, and subsystems as needed.ย ย
  • Execute configuration and parameter changes, including network and system settings on deployed robots.ย ย
  • Interface directly with customer teams to provide status updates, answer technical questions, and ensure customer satisfaction.ย ย
  • Maintain logs of service activity, diagnostics data, and configuration changes in a structured and reliable format.ย ย
  • Support initial site bring-up and commissioning efforts for new deployments.ย ย
  • Assist with documentation development and service procedure refinement.ย ย
  • Support weekend and after-hours troubleshooting on an on-call rotation basis.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years in a technical field service, robotics, or hardware support role.ย
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly (30-50% anticipated).ย
  • Proficiency with Linux terminal, remote troubleshooting, and basic shell scripting.
  • Strong hands-on skills with mechanical/electrical components and system-level debugging.ย
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.ย
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in industrial or warehouse environments.ย
  • Capable of interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience working with autonomous systems, mobile robots, or industrial automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with Python, ROS, or other scripting and robotics platforms.
  • Experience working in production environments with safety and compliance standards.
  • Experience configuring WiFi, networking parameters, or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or remote monitoring dashboards.
Benefits & Perks
  • Health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA and FSA (Health & Dependent Daycare), Employee Assistance Program, 1:1 Health Concierge)
  • Life, Short-term and long-term disability insurance (Cyngn funds 100% of premiums)
  • Company 401(k)
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Remote or hybrid work opportunities
  • Sabbatical leave opportunity after 5 years with the company
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Daily lunches for in-office employees and fully-stocked kitchen with snacks and beverages
  • Monthly meal and tech allowances for remote employees
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, including time at a desk and in industrial or customer environments.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching to install, maintain, and repair robots.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, hear, and respond effectively in noisy environments.
$90,000 - $108,000 a year
